A study that was published in the Journal Pediatrics has found that teenagers who use e-cigs and hookahs are more likely to smoke marijuana eventually.

University of Pennsylvania researchers as well as University of Southern California researchers, surveyed over 2,600 students in Los Angeles public high schools to reach this conclusion.

As part of the study, students 14-years old and in the ninth trade were asked if they had ever tried hookahs or e-cigarettes.

Researchers then did a follow-up survey in the fall of 2015, asking 16-years-old and in the 11th grade about smoking marijuana.

The study found that students who had tried e-cigarettes when they were freshman were three times more likely to have tried marijuana than those who had not tried e-cigarettes.
