It’s looking hopeful for patients who have long-term illnesses in regards to them potentially being able to use medical marijuana in the state of Missouri.

The Missouri House endorsed a proposal that would allow these patients to get access to the drug on Monday.

Rep. Jim Neely, R-Cameron is the bill’s sponsor. He stated, “I’m trying to provide some comfort to people who are in the last days of their life. It just seems like this is the right thing to do.”

Rep. Shamed Dogan, R of Ballwin also offered an amendment to the bill that would let people who have non-terminal illnesses also have access to medical marijuana.

These illnesses include Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Dogan stated, “This is in the spirit of what our voters think when they think of medical marijuana.”

“The veterans of our state need this,” remarked Rep. Peter Merideth, D-St. Louis.
