According to Chris Walsh, an industry analyst and the Editorial Vice President of MJBizDaily, there are 125,000-160,000 people working full-time in the legal marijuana industry.
Jobs including growing, processing, selling, and service and supply to companies.
Walsh has said that there are more employees now in the marijuana sector than there are librarians or kindergarten teachers in the U.S.
MJBizDaily has predicted that as more states legalize the drug, the market will grow even more and will add as many as 340,000 full-time jobs by 2022.
Currently 30 states plus DC allow medical or recreational cannabis that contains the psychoactive ingredient THC.
