According to Arcview Market Research and BDS Analytics, many more states are expected to legalize marijuana in the next five years but medicinally over recreationally.

In the State of the Legal Cannabis Markets report, Arcview and BDS have suggested that while medical legalization is expected in all U.S. states by 2024, only 20 states will have fully legalized recreational cannabis sales.

The two firms expect the following states to have legalized adult-use cannabis by the year 2024:

Alaska
Arizona
California
Colorado
Connecticut
Delaware
Illinois
Maine
Maryland
Massachusetts
Michigan
Nevada
New Jersey
New Mexico
New York
Ohio
Oregon
Rhode Island
Vermont
Washington
