Jim Dabkis, a Democratic state senator from Utah, has tried marijuana for the very first time and he did it on camera.

The senator tried a weed gummy in a parking lot of a Las Vegas dispensary called NuLeaf in just jeans and a t-shirt.

Utah is gearing up to vote on the legalization of medicinal marijuana. The Salt Lake Tribune has reported that Utah residents will be voting on Proposition 2 for medicinal marijuana in November. Despite if voters vote yes, state law makers have agreed for a special session after that allows them to pass their own plan.

The senator made the road tript o Nevada, where recreational marijuana is legal, to make a point – that Utah lawmakers were going to re-legislate Prop 2 despite the results of a vote without ever having tried marijuana.

He called the gummy bear “bitter” and posted a followup two days later where he said on video, “I made it back to Salt Lake, and I’m healthy. I wouldn’t suggest shooting up marijuana to anybody.” He added, “But I’ll tell you, I think it’s a lot of ho-hum. I think the reefer madness crowd—you guys, you need to try it. It’s not that big a deal.”
