It was in 2017 that actor Woody Harrelson announced that he had given up using marijuana. Harrelson had used the drug for “30 solid years of just partying too fucking hard.”

It looks like the former “Cheers” star is back on the ganja. In the latest September cover story for Esquire, Harrelson explains how Willie Nelson helped him to cut his hiatus from marijuana.

“See, everybody thinks of Willie as a model of progressive thinking and virtue, and he is, but he’s also got an evil side. Eee-vil,” Harrelson said.

“We’d be playing poker and he’d pass me a vape pen,” Harrelson added. “And I’d say, ‘Willie, man, I don’t do that anymore.’ And he’d act surprised, like it was news to him—every time, just as surprised as he could be.”

It was while on a trip to Hawaii to see Willie Nelson that Harrelson gave in after winning a big hand of poker. “I was in a celebrating mood, so I snatched the pen from him and took a long draw.”

When Nelson learned the news, he said, “Welcome home, son.”
