Tony Evers, the Democratic Governor of Wisconsin, is supporting legalizing medicinal marijuana in the state and has said to a group of business leaders this week that he will most likely include the “first step” to legislation in a state budget proposal.

“I just want to make sure we do it correctly,” Evers said on Tuesday, in a meeting with board members of the Wisconsin Technology Council.

Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald stated, “I still don’t believe the support’s there within the Senate caucus to move in that direction, but I know the debate is going on nationwide,”

“I want it to be set up in a way that people in the state of Wisconsin feel comfortable that they can make some money by doing this work without having to essentially go broke,” remarked Evers.
