Many may be rejoicing over the fact that the World Health Organization (WHO) has approved cannabidiol and have said that it is not a dangerous drug.

The organization approved the relaxing compound that is found in medical marijuana and have said that it does not have any risks of addiction.

Cannabidiol has been widely used to treat different disorders and conditions that include cancer, epilepsy, and Alzheimer’s.

This ruling is significant because it means that cannabidiol should not be a scheduled drug.

The WHO Expert Committee on Drug Dependence said, ““Recent evidence from animal and human studies shows that its use could have some therapeutic value for seizures due to epilepsy and related conditions.”

“Current evidence also shows that cannabidiol is not likely to be abused or create dependence as for other cannabinoids (such as Tetra Hydro Cannabinol (THC), for instance).”

A more extensive review will be done next May to look at cannabis and cannabis-related substances.
