With the COVID-19 pandemic, New York has been very busy putting all of its focus and attention on that.

Governor Andrew Cuomo had said the pandemic is the state’s main priority right now. He also said that a decision like marijuana legalization shouldn’t be made quickly and that delaying marijuana legalization was a wise decision.

Cuomo conceded earlier this month that it’s unlikely marijuana will be legalized in the state this year.

According to a Marijuana Moment report, despite the delay, lawmakers in the state are considering other ways to proceed and want to discuss and make the legalization decision remotely through online discussions. This means remote legislation could be possible in the state using online video conferencing tool Zoom.

Governor Cuomo argues that the process would be too complicated. At a press conference, he said, “As far as getting into a very complex issue that requires real analysis and real data and trying to do that on Zoom conferences, I don’t know that that’s the best way to do it, but that’s up to them also.”
