A new bill landed on the table in the House of Assembly last week in Bermuda that would decriminalize small amounts of marijuana.

Called the Misuse of Drugs (Decriminalisation of Cannabis) Amendment Act, the bill would decriminalize quantities of marijuana that are less than grams.

The bill was formally proposed by the Minister of Social Development and Sport, Zane DeSilva.

The bill also states that police have the right to seize any amount of cannabis and there will be regulations made by the minister to provide substance abuse education or treatment for those with the drug.
