What was first thought to be heroin, turned out to be a derivative of marijuana found in a child’s trick or treat bag in the state of West Virginia.

Police have said lab results on the substance that was found in a 3-year old girl’s Halloween bag have turned out to be a derivative of marijuana, and no one has been injured.

The substance was field-tested in Oak Hill on Tuesday night and then tested by West Virginia State Police lab.

According to Oak Hill Police Chief Mike Whisman, there is still an offense despite the drug being marijuana and not heroin. No arrests however have been made.

Whisman said the child’s mother had called police when she said she found a dark substance wrapped in a glove.

Whisman says the girl’s mother had called police after finding a dark substance wrapped in a glove.
