New Jersey’s governor Phil Murphy has ordered a review on the state’s medical marijuana program this week.

According to the governor, the program has been “stifled” these last eight years.

The new governor has blamed former Republican Governor Chris Christie’s administration for making it hard for the residents of the state to use the program.

New Jersey’s medical marijuana program has 15,000 enrollees while other states have hundreds of thousands of enrollees.

“The roadblocks put in place by the past administration mean that the law’s spirit has been stifled,” Murphy said. “We’re not much farther along.”

Murphy has made a promise to legalize marijuana for recreational use in New Jersey.
