Area 52 Delta-8 THC Product Review by Leah Johnson at CBD Origin

One of the most heavily guarded places in the world is shrouded in mystery, tucked deep into the sandy deserts of Nevada. Pilots knew to steer clear of it, US Geological Survey maps somehow had no location of it, and even satellites were prohibited from capturing any photographic imagery of it. For years, the government denied its very existence until an accidental mention of it in an official CIA file. That’s right, we’re talking about Area 51! We’ve all come to assume that this area is the secret testing site for extraterrestrial beings, but sadly we’ll probably never know for sure. But don’t get too bummed out by all this talk of aliens and otherworldly beings. Today we’ll be reviewing a brand that promises to launch you into outer space with its smooth and powerful high. Please give a warm earthling welcome to the Delta-8 THC gummies from Area 52! Since we can’t actually explore the forbidden alien site, we settled for the next best thing, and we can’t wait to share our experiences with you. Keep reading to learn more about these fantastic gummies that will have you forgetting all talk of alien lifeforms with a single chew!

What Exactly is Delta-8 THC?

Before we dive into our full-blown review of these soft and sugary sweets, let’s take a moment to go over what Delta-8 THC actually is. Delta-8 THC is a cannabinoid found in the cannabinoid, along with a handful of other cannabinoids you may already be familiar with. Delta-9 THC is one of these cannabinoids, better known as its street name: good ole’ Mary Jane. Marijuana has been used for centuries to treat chronic pain, mental illnesses, sleep and eating disorders, and much more. Unfortunately, many people abused the drug and weed earned itself a reputation as a “gateway drug” with an overwhelming high that was often too much for the user. Only very recently has marijuana become legal in many states for both medicinal and recreational use.

Another popular cannabinoid is called cannabidiol, CBD for short. CBD contains no psychoactive properties whatsoever, despite containing trace amounts of THC. The soothing properties of the hemp plant can now be enjoyed without fear of getting high or being unable to function throughout the day. Delta-8 THC is a middle ground of both these cannabinoids, offering a smooth and heady high while leaving the user completely clear-headed and in control. The high is quite intense, but not overwhelming to the point where paranoia and anxiety are heightened instead of tamed. Delta-8 THC is also completely legal on a federal level, provided that it comes from the hemp plant and contains only 0.3% THC or less. Some states have created their own legislation on the sale and use of hemp, so you’ll need to check with your state law before attempting to purchase any Delta-8 THC product. Now that we know what Delt-8 THC is, it’s time to go over what to expect on your Delta-8 THC high.

Delta-8 THC: What To Expect

Delta-8 THC is unique in that it affects the user differently based on several factors. Age, weight, gender, metabolism, and previous exposure to THC all play a role in your Delta-8 THC high. To complicate matters further, the effects and reaction time vary with the type of product being consumed. Delta-8 THC products are generally separated into two categories: edibles and inhalables. Edibles are excellent for first-time users due to their ease of use and satisfying flavor. Baked goods, oral strips, gummies, tincture, and softgels are all examples of edibles. Edibles usually take anywhere from 30-90 minutes to take effect and can last for several hours. Inhalables, on the other hand, require previous smoking or vaping knowledge, and may require external equipment to operate. Vape cartridges require a pen-style device (called a battery), flower will require rolling paper and grinders, and disposables and pre-rolls are best used by those who already vape or smoke. Inhalables usually kick in within about five minutes and the high generally lasts for about an hour or so.

Regardless of which product type you prefer, it’s crucial to start off with small doses. Many companies list dosage recommendations directly on the packaging or in the product listing on their website. When taking any new product for the first time, always start off with the recommended dosage, or use your judgment if there isn’t a recommendation listed. Remember that you can always increase the dosage over time once you accurately gauge your body’s reaction to it. Taking too much Delta-8 THC in one sitting can result in extreme drowsiness and increased anxiety/paranoia. Never attempt to operate machinery or vehicles while under the influence of a Delta-8 THC high, as your judgment may be impaired.

Some common side effects of using Delta-8 THC include dry mouth, sleepiness, and nausea. These side effects are typically quick to resolve, either by taking a drink of water or laying down. Some of the more pleasurable effects include warm euphoria, pleasant tingling throughout the body (known as a body high), increased arousal, heightened sense of taste and touch, appetite stimulation (munchies!), and others. These side effects depend on the type of product consumed as well as the user, but you should expect to feel some of these effects while enjoying your Delta-8 THC high. With that being said, it’s time for our in-depth review of the Area 52 gummies. We’ll start by reviewing the Area 52 brand itself and dive into the much-anticipated review. Let’s begin!

Area 52 Brand Overview

Area 52 has been consistently named as being one of the top Delta-8 THC brands in the industry. Their unique marketing strategy uses aliens and extraterrestrial verbiage to amass a loyal following. Their website is playful yet professional, and uses vivid graphics and colors to entice new users. Area 52 specializes in Delta-8 THC edibles (honey sticks and gummies), tinctures, and vapes. Their gummies are a little on the pricey side: $69 for a pack of 30 gummies, each gummy containing 25mg per piece. However, Area 52 offers discounted prices for buying multiple quantities and also offers a 10% discount when you sign up for their recurring subscription service. There are also certain bundles where you can “stack and save” 15%, which are listed on various product descriptions towards the bottom of the page.

The site was a delight to navigate and had a unique layout, utilizing a circle icon instead of a traditional arrow pointer and a special type of font that evoked imagery of alien lifeforms. The site was simply organized into two categories, Delta-8 THC and UFO (their term for non-psychoactive cannabinoid-infused products). A section on the About Us page briefly mentioned future products to come, such as other cannabinoid-infused products, brand merch, and even artwork! There was an astonishing amount of customer reviews per product (the gummies alone had over 600 reviews with 5-star ratings). With all that in mind, it’s high time we launched our full-blown product review and we’re stoked to share it with our fellow earth dwellers!

Area 52 Delta-8 THC Gummies Product Review

Delta-8 THC gummies are one of the most widely-enjoyed consumption methods due to their ease of use, soft and chewy texture, and delicious flavor. Many companies offer their gummies in a myriad of different flavors, sometimes packaged separately or offered as a mixed bag of several flavors. Area 52 chose the latter, as their gummies are tossed together in an “assorted flavors” pack of 30 gummies.

I opened the large 30-pack of gummies and peered into the bag. The cube-shaped gummies were quite a bit smaller than I expected, nearly half the size of traditional cubed gummies. I briefly considered eating two gummies instead of the recommended dose of just one gummy, but decided I would see how I felt with one and go from there. There were several different colors, but no mention of what each color’s flavor was. I selected a pale pink one and marveled at the soft and spongy texture between my fingertips. The gummy was coated in sugar crystals and gave off no scent.

I popped the sugary pink treat into my mouth and was absolutely delighted with the exquisite watermelon flavor. The following night I tried half of a yellow gummy and half of a green gummy, equaling the single dose recommendation. The yellow one had a warm sugared lemon flavor that was delightful, while the green gummy had a rich apple flavor that was equally marvelous. On both occasions, the gummy was soft and spongy while chewing, and I tasted very little hemp. There was a slight coating left on my teeth and tongue, but nothing that a quick swig of water couldn’t fix.

I started to feel the effects creep up on me after about an hour, and the high fully kicked in after about 90 minutes. I had eaten the gummies after a full meal, so I attribute that to the smoothness in which the high started. I felt a warm euphoria and a heightened sense of touch. There was a warm tingling in my face, arms, hands, and feet, and I experienced bursts of creativity throughout the high. I felt like a weighted blanket had settled upon my entire body. I enjoyed an enhanced sense of taste that made my munchie snacks absolutely incredible. My tongue clung to the roof of my mouth, but I noticed that instead of a dry mouth, my mouth actually felt wetter! I didn’t experience any weighted eyelids or disorientation. I noticed that time seemed to slow down, and I began to feel more sleepy and relaxed, and after about two hours, I finally drifted off into a deep and refreshing sleep. When I awoke, I didn’t feel any “hangover high” and was able to go about my day as normal.

Despite their deceivingly small size, these gummies packed a powerful punch that was impressive and highly enjoyable. I was honored to try these gummies from Area 52 and I look forward to trying more of their Delta-8 THC products.

Area 52 General Information

Lab Testing

Third-pary testing done by independent labs are a crucial part of any Delta-8 THC product, as it is what consumers depend on to confirm the purity and potency of the product in question. Although the FDA does not regulate any cannabinoid product, and therefore does not require these test results, many companies go the extra mile and provide these tests for free. However, some companies will provide this information only upon request or solely on the product packaging. This prompts the consumer to either reach out to the company directly or purchase the product before being able to review the results.

Although Area 52 claims to provide the results of their independent lab tests on their CoA page, I was unable to locate this information. I spent quite a bit of time searching their pages to try and find this information, but grew increasingly frustrated with the black circle dot cursor (a site feature that overrides the traditional mouse pointer) and the spinning logos on the home page that did not redirect to the test page. I gave up trying to find this information on the site and instead scanned the QR code on the package. If you’re able to find this information, I applaud your efforts! I would greatly appreciate if you can let me in the comments below where you found it, and will gladly update this section to include the location of Area 52’s lab test results.

Hemp Information

Area 52 devoted an entire section of their website to mention their hemp quality and manufacturing process. In addition to only using high quality extracts and premium hemp, Area 52 takes the time to explain why they will not use low-grade extracts in an effort to save money, citing toxic elements such as mercury, hexane, cadmium, butane, and lead that are known to exist in subpar extracts. The extraction process includes isolation, as it offers a smoother and cleaner user experience. Area 52’s founder spent a decade perfecting the isolation and extraction methods, and the brand’s exploration team continues to work on a plethora of compounds that uplift your spirits, promote creativity, and ensure a euphoric experience with every product. I would have liked to see more information about the actual extraction process and location of the hemp sourced (organic or locally farmed), but aside from that, Area 52’s detailed hemp information was greatly appreciated.

Product Packaging

Area 52’s packaging utilizes exceptional design and creativity that evokes alien imagery and playfulness in the same thought. The company logo is pure genius, using an alien head and the numbers 52 in such a way that it looks like an alien becan beaming down. Their Delta-8 THC cubed gummies came in a large satin purple resealable pouch with lime green lettering. The front of the package had two banners criss-crossing to look like warning tape, while small block lettering on the bottom gave detailed information about the contents (30 gummies of assorted flavors, each gummy containing 25mg). The back of the packaging contained information on how to open the pouch, how long the effects may last, and storage information. Listed directly below that were several customary warnings, the ingredients list, and manufacturing information. On the right side of the bag was a large text block of product facts, including recommended serving size, nutrition information, and legal information (contains less than 0.3% THC as required by the 2018 Farm Bill). Overall, the packaging was beautifully designed and piqued my curiosity instantly. Well done, Area 52!

CONCLUSION

From the moment I learned about Area 52’s Delta-8 THC product lineup, my curiosity was launched into outer space. Aside from my failure to find any information about their lab test results, the Area 52 brand has found a spot on my top five favorite gummies. Not only did the deceptively small gummies taste delicious, but they packed a powerful Delta-8 THC high that began smoothly and lasted for several hours. Both the product packaging and brand website were beautifully designed and had an extraterrestrial feel to it. While these gummies might seem a little expensive, keep in mind that the serving size is half a gummy, meaning that a single pack can last you for two months! Lastly, I loved Area 52’s dedication to using premium hemp as well as providing a detailed explanation of why. I strongly encourage you to check out Area 52’s entire catalog, but especially these soft and sweet Delta-8 THC gummies!

If you’ve had the pleasure of sampling these fantastic gummies or any other product from Area 52, feel free to share your experiences with the rest of us in the comments below! Even if gummies aren’t your preferred method of Delta-8 THC, I’d love to hear which ones are and why. In our next article, we’ll be reviewing a unique Delta-8 THC product that is new to our reviews: 3Chi Beverage Enhancers. This will be the first time we’re reviewing a “drinkable” rather than an edible, and trust me, you’ll want to stock up as soon as you read the review.
