Unfortunately Arizona isn’t getting closer to getting recreational marijuana legalized.

The Safer Arizona Cannabis Legalization Act missed the 5 p.m. deadline on Thursday to file petitions to get recreational marijuana on the November 6th ballot.

A representative of the grassroots group said Thursday that it had only collected about 75,000 of the 150,625 signatures needed to qualify the Safer Arizona Cannabis Legalization Act for the ballot. The group had been collecting signatures since last November.

The group’s website had said the group hoped for 225,000 signatures.
