Marijuana may be able to benefit people who are living with chronic lung disease according to the Lung Institute.

The Lung Institute has found that medical marijuana has been useful in reducing inflammation, improving sleep, easing pain, supporting the immune system, and reducing phlegm.

The thing however is not to smoke it.

Smoking cannabis if you have pulmonary disease is harmful. This is because there is no filter on a “joint” and people usually inhale deeper which leaves the smoke in their lungs longer than cigarettes do.

The American Thoracic Society has said that smoking marijuana can cause large air sacs to form in the lungs and if they pop could cause lung collapse.

Fortunately there are other ways to use marijuana without having to smoke it.
