California kicked the new year off with allowing recreational sales of marijuana but not every city was ready on January 1st to start selling.

The city of Los Angeles has now issued its first licenses for marijuana sales and the temporary licenses belong to a medical marijuana dispensary and a recreational retail store.

Mother Nature’s Remedy Caregivers in Woodland Hills and WHTC in Studio City are the first to receive L.A.s’ first MMJ and adult-use permits according to the LA Weekly.

Approval from state regulators are still needed for the two facilities to start selling.
