A business in Milford, Massachusetts may become the very first marijuana business in the state to get a recreational marijuana license.

The company, called Sira Naturals, is likely to be awarded the license according to numerous reports.

State officials will be meeting with Sira Naturals on Thursday to consider approving the business to cultivate marijuana for recreational use according to the Boston Globe.

The company grows medical marijuana already and sends it to dispensaries in Somerville, Needham, and Cambridge.

Michael Rosenfield at NBC10 Boston tweeted, “It is a big deal.” CEO of @SiraNaturals on the vote later this week by the MA Cannabis Control Commission whether to award first license for recreational marijuana. 11pm @NBC10Boston.”

“We are very gratified that the Cannabis Control Commission has seen fit to put us on this list,” Sira CEO Michael Dundas said to WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

He added, “We’re not sure exactly what’s going to happen tomorrow, but it does appear relatively likely that they will take this vote–and we’re very very excited.”
