Could marjiuana deliveries become the new norm thanks to the coronavirus outbreak?

One state is seeing explosive deliveries as marijuana dispensaries have had to change their practices to follow social distancing and adhere to lockdown orders.

According to a report in the Reno Gazette Journal, since Nevada’s cannabis industry temporarily switched to delivery-only purchases, thee has been a high demand for these deliveries.

“The demand continues to be high, but we are continuing to meet demand,” remarked Tyler Klimas, the executive director of the Cannabis Compliance Board.
It was about a week ago that Nevada’s Governor Steve Sisolak mandated that all marijuana retail storefronts close shop in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus statewide.

At-home deliveries were allowed to continue because marijuana is considered an “essential business” as it is medicine for some consumers.

According to the most recent state taxation data, there was upwards of $60 million in sales monthly in Nevada, with between $8 million and $10 million going to the state.

Nevada has 59 dispensaries statewide that are now making deliveries, up from 38 the previous week, according to Klimas.
