One of the most grueling parts about having cancer is the chemotherapy. The negative effects can include nausea and vomiting.

MediPen Ltd. is a company that wants to test how cannabis can reduce these negative effects. The company, which just launched a cannabis-based vaporiser last year, will conduct the test at its new research facility.

According to the company they will be running a “strenuous” course of clinical trials into the medicinal applications of cannabis at its “state-of-the-art” testing facilities on Caxton Place, Pontprennau .

MediPen believes that by testing products with the help of the NHS and other health organisations, that it could lead to a change in the public’s opinion on the drug.
The company has said that it wants to “end the criminalisation of over one million medicinal users.”

It also wants cannabis-based medication to be made readily available to those who need it and will be working with industry-leading scientists and product designers from its 1,800sq ft site in Cardiff.

MediPen will become the second company in the UK to actively develop medicines for cancer patients that are cannabinoid-based.

A spokesman for the company said: “With the launch of their dedicated cannabis research facility, MediPen Ltd are excited to further propel the UK to the forefront of global cannabinoid research and innovation.

“There is a large amount of existing scientific and anecdotal evidence supporting this mission which MediPen Ltd are extremely keen to study and reaffirm through a series of placebo-controlled, double blind scientific trials.”

“It’s something which, due to current prohibition laws and difficulty obtaining licensing, has been almost impossible until now.”
