In a op-ed written in the Washington Post, two researchers, Laurel Elder and Steven Greene, have discussed their study on why men support marijuana legislation more than women do.

The two researchers discussed several theories on why this is and offered their own conclusion as well.

One theory revolves motherhood and that mothers are more protective of their children, but after research, they realized that parenthood wasn’t a big factor.

Religion was another theory and research foudn that people with more religious views are more likely to be against the drug.

Another theory was the “risky white men hypothesis,” where white men tend to favor policies where future consequences are not really taken into account.

One theory that actually makes a lot of sense, and is the conclusion, is that men smoke more than women do.
