Some new figures have revealed that Europe has some very big potential when it comes to medicinal marijuana.

According to Arcview Market Research and BDS Analytics, the global legal marijuana market amounted to $9.5 billion in 2017, growing by 37 percent on the year.

The largest market was the U.S. at $8.5 billion, which was then followed by Canada with $600 million.

Europe is expected to reach the U.S. dollar equivalent of more than $130 billion by 2028, according to the report.

Within a decade, the continent could become the biggest market for marijuana in the world.

In the first six months of 2018, the European cannabis market saw more growth than in the previous five years, said the “European Cannabis Report” from Prohibition Partners.
