The Law Come To Get You If You Don’t Walk Right—Hemp Law, Policy And The Courts (Part 4/5)
By Robert Hoban, Contributor, Forbes
Remember that movie, Don’t Look Up? The movie was a mixed bag in terms of critical review, but it was intended to depict what happens if we wait too long to interrogate our culture and ourselves, lose sight of truth, and fail to take action. In many ways, I feel like the cannabis industry is refusing to “look up.” What I mean is that there appears to be a disconnect between what the law says, and what people believe about the present iteration of the cannabis industry. Again, to level-set here, the cannabis industry has two distinct sectors – the marijuana sector, and the hemp sector. Got it? You with me?
We live in the land of confusion – intentional or otherwise. The misinformation is deep. The desire to understand what the law allows for is lacking, but “you ain’t gonna learn what you don’t wanna know.” The desire to malign and dismiss the hemp sector is great because it does not fit what many activists believed would happen next, i.e., federal marijuana legalization or the (CSA) de-scheduling of marijuana.
On this week’s Lancaster Farming Industrial Hemp Podcast, Eric Hurlock talks with Morris Beegle, founder of the NoCo Hemp Expo, the largest industrial hemp convention in North America.
The tenth annual expo will be held April 11-13 in Estes Park, Colorado.
“It’s really a beautiful mountain resort location where we can get 2,000-3,000 people up there and basically take over the town,” Beegle said.
He expects it to be a good meet-up, full of constructive conversations on how to shape the industry, develop supply chains, influence regulation and do business.
