According to a CBS report, citing a national survey, senior citizens are becoming the fastest growing segment of the cannabis sector.
The survey found that usage among adults who are aged 65 and older is up 250%. The usage for adults 50-65 has also grown almost 58%.
“I’ve generally felt that recreational drugs of any kind were no nos, and I still do,” explained Duane Kaniebs, who is a 91 year old World War II veteran.
He said, “Cannabis seems to be somewhere in between. All of these years I thought it was in the same category of any other recreational drug”
A cannabis manufacturer based in Colorado, Stratos, is aiming to help these skeptical seniors look at marijuana differently when it comes to treating pain.
Marijuana has been used by many to treat chronic pain.
