Democrats in the state of Tennessee have voted to support resolutions that would not only legalize medical marijuana, but would provide wider health coverage and a $15 minimum wage.

According to executive committee member Gary Blackburn, medical marijuana is backed by “growing body of research about the benefits.” This includes marijuana being used as a treatment for chronic pain. According to Blackburn, allowing medicinal marijuana could also help the opioid epidemic.
