New York has been hit hard with the coronavirus with an estimate that thousands of cases exist in the state.
Governor Andrew Cuomo signed an executive order this week instructing that non-essential businesses established telework policies by Friday.
The state has put marijuana dispensaries in the same “essential” category as grocery stores, media and banks that are permitted to stay open.
“Registered organizations in the State’s Medical Marijuana Program are essential medical providers and will be allowed to remain open,” said a spokesperson for the governor.
The marijuana stores should however observe social distancing and limit the number of people on the premises at any one time.
