Health regulators in the state of New York are almost finishing a study of recreational marijuana that could pave the way for Governor Andrew Cuomo to support legalizing it.
New York’s state Department of Health has indicated that it will submit its finding soon to the Governor.
The study examines the impact recreational marijuana would have on the state.
According to Health Department spokeswoman Jill Montag, the agency has been “working to assess the health, economic and criminal justice impact of a regulated marijuana program in New York state and to explore the impact on New York of marijuana legalization in surrounding states.”
“The Department will submit its findings to the governor soon,” Montag said.
