A new state law went into effect on Sunday in the state of Washington that is good and bad for pot shop owners.

The good? It allows pot shops to have up to five retail licenses compared to three before.

The bad? It prohibits the way marijuana shops are able to advertise.

The new law bans people from spinning signs at intersections that advertise pot shops and also bans the depiction of products, marijuana plants, or logos, that appeal to children on store signs of billboards.

The law also restricts any form of advertising on buses or transit or any pot delivery vehicles.

The new law also allows any county, city or town to adopt more restrictive outdoor advertising for its recreational marijuana stores.
