According to writer Patrick McGreevy of the Los Angele Times, the state of California has a lot of weed. It seems the Golden State’s marijuana producers are growing eight times the amount of marijuana needed for consumption.

In McGreevy’s report, Hezekiah Allen, the executive director of the California Growers Association remarked that scaling back would be hurtful for the growers.
According to a consultant at the Sacramento Press Club, where Allen was a panel discussion member, the amount of marijuana is 12 times what is being consumed.

According to Allen, “some growers on the black market would most likely export their product to other states in violation of federal law.”
