According to a poll, Canadians are in favor of marijuana legalization.

A new survey by researchers at Dalhousie University in Halifax have found that a majority of Canadians are in favor of the legalization of recreational marijuana.

According to the researchers, 68% of the people across the country are in favor of legalizing the drug. A little over 45% of people had said they would buy food that has marijuana and 46% said they would purchase pot laced baked goods if they were made legal.

The researchers also found however that more than half of the people surveyed were concerned about the harms that may arise with children having more access to marijuana. A whopping 81% of the people had these concerns.

Co-author of the report, Sylvain Charlebois, who is a professor of food distribution and policy at Dalhousie commented, “The risk element around children was quite high at 58.5 per cent, so there seems to be a bit of paradox out there.”

“On the one hand, people are willing to accept the legalization of non-medicinal marijuana but at the same time they do recognize societal risks related to doing so.”
